SureTriggers & tawk.to Integration Guide

Tawk.to is a live chat app that lets you chat with visitors on your website. It helps businesses provide quick customer support and answer real-time questions, making communicating with customers easier.

If you use tawk.to on your website, you can automate integral tasks with SureTriggers that’ll save you valuable time and effort.

In this article, we’ll show you how to connect your tawk.to account with SureTriggers and create workflows with real-life use cases.

Note: Before we start, please ensure you have set up tawk.to on your website.

What You Can Do With The tawk.to & SureTriggers Integration?

There are multiple tawk.to automation that you can configure with SureTriggers, like:

  • Adding chat messages to Google Sheets so you can analyze problems.
  • Getting a Slack message when someone submits a ticket.
  • Adding messages to a Google doc file whenever someone starts a conversation.
  • Adding new customers to your CRM or email marketing tool.

And much more.

How Automation Works In SureTriggers

Automation in SureTriggers is based on Triggers and Actions.

A Trigger is an event that occurs in one app or service, and an Action is a predefined task that is performed in another app or service based on that trigger.

SureTriggers has the following triggers available for tawk.to:

  • New Ticket: Runs when a new ticket is created.
  • Chat Start: Runs when the chat is started.
  • Chat End: Runs when the chat is ended.

For example, we can set the “New Ticket” as the Trigger and configure Google Docs as an Action, so that every time a new ticket is created, your Google Doc file is updated.

We can use these triggers to launch actions and create extensive workflows.

Creating a tawk.to Workflow In SureTriggers

To begin, we’ll have to create a tawk.to trigger event first:

Configuring the tawk.to Trigger

  • Login to your SureTriggers account.
  • Click on Create Workflow and provide a descriptive name for your workflow.
  • Click on the Add Trigger button.
  • Search for “tawk.to” and click on its icon.

  • Select the trigger event type. For this example, we’ll select “Chat Start”.
  • Navigate to Administration > Settings > Webhook and click “Create Webhook”.
  • Provide a descriptive name to your webhook and paste the URL here.
  • Tick the previously selected event type. We’ll select “Chat Start” again.
  • To execute this event, go to your website’s front end and start a fake chat.
  • Once done, your SureTriggers workflow will listen to this event and execute it.

Click on the ReListen to Requests if the event is not detected.

Once done, hit the Save button.

You can follow the same approach while executing any “New Ticket” and the “Chat End” trigger events.

Configuring the Action Event

You have successfully created the tawk.to trigger, click this “+” icon to add the corresponding action event.

In this case, we’ll create a simple workflow that adds the chat message and the user’s country to a Google Doc file whenever someone starts a chat on your website.

  • Select Google Docs as the action event app.
  • Select “Append Text to Document” as the event type.
  • Select the connection (Google account) and the preferred document. Ensure that this document is editable.
  • Specify the data that you need to fetch in the “Text” field. Type “@” to add data from the recorded chat.
  • Click on the Test Action button.

This will test the action and add the configured data to your Google Doc file. Click on the Save button once you’re done.

That’s it! You’ve successfully created a simple workflow using tawk.to in SureTriggers.

You can configure more action events by clicking on the “+” icon again or Publish the workflow to make it live on your site.

Now, when anyone starts the chat on your website, the message text and user country will be automatically added to your document!

That’s just one use case. You can use SureTriggers to create multiple complex workflows that’ll save you tons of time and manual effort.
